Short on time, so here's what we did on Day 3:
- Drive from Franz Joseph to Wanaka
- Hike/walk to Fox Glacier
- Lake Hawea viewpoint
- Lake Wanaka walk
- Night 3 - Kiwi Holiday Park for powered camp site
Things to know if you visit
- The drive down the west coast of NZ is incredible. That in itself is an activity. But beware, the roads are narrow, windy, and hilly. So our campervan was a bit annoying at times.
- Fox Glacier has been fading back for centuries so the end viewpoint isn't too amazing for NZ standards. However, the walk/hike to the viewpoint is fantastic. The helicopter rides may be worth it if you have the time because you get to step onto the glacier!
Fun facts
- Lamb and vegetable soup could look like pumpkin soup that tastes like gamy lamb... so don't get it.
- The campervan's gas mileage was the same as Ken's Mini Cooper S in the city (22mpg)!
- Glaciers, lakes, forests, waterfalls, the ocean, rivers, valleys, and farms can all be seen in 4 hours! This is place is jaw dropping especially on a sunny day
- Men could be wearing a nice down jacket with mid high shorts
- Camping sites and random helpful restrooms take donations for upkeeping

Poor glacier. I was hoping it would be like Superman's Ice Cave.See if you can get some pictures of the stars at night!

Mohit, how many Lord of the Rings jokes/references are you allotted for this visit?

DeleteI can't hum the LOTR theme song so I just use the Harry Potter theme instead to keep Fate annoyed :)
